Blog Post #6

Dear past Vim, congratulations on finishing the paper. There are some things that you should probably know before starting to help make the end results even better. Here is a list of things to know, starting from least important to most important.

10. The essay is not as complicated as you think. It is going to be easy as long as you put in the right amount of effort.

9. Read your essay after each edit to make sure no mistakes are present.

8.Don’t be afraid to ask questions because you’re not the only one with them.

7.Don’t stress on citations because Easybib.com has you covered.

6. Don’t worry too much about length because it is the content that matters.

5. Finding sources are tough, but using time wisely can make finding them way easier.

4. Read all instructions thoroughly. This will help to make sure the essay is on the right track.

3. Don’t stress about it taking up too much time because it can be finished quickly.

2. The faster you start the faster you finish, so quit messing around for no reason.

1.Use time in class because it actually helps, and stop procrastinating.

  1. Something I don’t like about the writing process is having to find sources. It was hard to find sources because most of them were news websites.

2. My topic is also kind of hard to find because it is pretty old. The MH370 incident happened over 5 years ago, which is pretty old.

3. Another thing I dislike about the writing process is the citations because they are annoying. I don’t know really know where to put citations or when to use them.

My conspiracy theory is the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. I chose it because it is strange for a modern day aircraft in this era to just go missing without a trace. It seemed super interesting because the mystery has not been solved for 6 years. It also seems interesting because the only people who know exactly what happened are the pilot and co-pilot of the plane. It also has multiple theories, and most of them are plausible, which makes it even more interesting. Every theory has its own holes, so there is no way to be certain. I also chose it because it even though the mystery was never solved, nobody has even been close to solving it. Only few pieces of debris were confirmed to be from MH370.

This is my reaction to reading all the details and watching conspiracy videos.

My essay didn’t come out the best, but it didn’t come out the worst. It started weak, but gradually got better with each piece of new information that I put in. Coming up with a thesis was also kind of difficult, and so it trying to make it long enough. My first paragraph was only 2 sentences, and I didn’t know what to put in the make it longer. My supporting paragraphs were kind of biased towards one ad. I kept supporting one ad and putting down the other one. I feel like my conclusion came out pretty well, I compared and contrasted the two ads, and wrapped everything up nicely.

For our group, we chose a commercial. Our purpose was to entertain young single moms. We chose a commercial because it seemed like it would work the best. Commercials can be entertaining, and also inform at the same time. The outcome was pretty good, it informed people, but was entertaining. It was successful because creating the commercial was easy, and it also worked out.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
